JoAnn's SpaceJuly 04 Happy 4th of July and ComputerlessJust stopping by to wish all of your a Happy 4th of July. Whatever you do, do it with pride for the ol' Red, White'n Blue! Most of all, be safe.
I'm computerless once again - had a VICIOUS virus that McAfee and AVG couldn't get rid of! It was one of those pop-ups that tell you a Trojan has been detected and it immediately starts scanning! I didn't click on a thing and couldn't get rid of the pop-up - had to reboot and then run my anti-virus programs. The guy at the computer place told me that viruses are getting so sophisticated that anti-virus software couldn't keep up with'em! That virus was embedded deep.
I can't get into FB on PJ's computer! I login and it tells me that cookies need to be enabled. Well, they are enabled. PJ spent a couple of hours on the phone with our ISP and Dell - to no avail. So, when I get my computer back, he's goes in! He's also having another problem besides the cookie thing. His problem started when he purchased a new H P printer and installed the driver. It's always somethng!
Relief from the heat may be coming tomorrow! It's torture out there and cabin fever's setting in!
I'll try to check on y'all later in the day, however, please be advised I'm not at my best on this laptop! My computer may be ready Monday or Tuesday.
Again, Happy 4th! June 30 Plop, Plop, Fizz, FizzOh, what a relief it is! Remember that ol' Alk*-S*ltz*r commercial? We had clouds roll in yesterday and somebody just north of us got rain - we didn't but it dropped temps into the lower 80s. Yesterday's high was 89! I don't think it's going to last long though! We'll take what we can get, when we can get it!
Toodie had a blog entry yesterday about her key FOB and it reminded me of an incident that happened around here. About 1-1/2 years ago I came back from shopping and was unloading the truck. For whatever reason, and I can't remember why, I laid my key FOB on the hood of the truck and totally forgot about it until......I needed to go somewhere and couldn't find my FOB! Long story short - I finally remembered the last time I saw it - on the hood of the truck. PJ had used the truck a couple of times since. I walked the driveway trying to figure out where it would've fallen off - no luck. Our road was in the process of being graded and retarred so that was a lost cause there. Gone forever was my key FOB! Well, you've never heard the likes of rantin' and ravin' done by someone else in this household, especially when it came to the replacement cost! O.K. my mistake, I'll live with it! There've been a couple of times since then that I haven't been able to find something around here and somebody has asked me, "Did ya put it on the hood of the truck?" Now, fast forward to a couple of weeks ago!
Last summer he bought a new pressure washer - one of those "must haves - can't live without it" things! The handle broke on it, so he called L*wes with his sob story and they told him to bring the broken handle in and they'd replace it....free Done! We get home and he starts unloading the truck and taking all of his new, must have, other stuff to his shop - hands are full, so he lays the new pressure washer handle on the back bumper of the truck! Do ya see where I'm going with this? His mother called and wanted him to come up and do something for her so he leaves. Later on that afternoon he comes in and tells me he can't find his new pressure washer handle. At that moment I knew and all I said was, "The last time I saw it was on the back bumper of the truck." You could've heard a pin drop! He knew! Y'all would've been dang proud - I never said another word! I'm a firm believer in what goes around, comes around.
PJ's going over to Longview today to see a man about a compound bow. Think I'll ride along to see what's happening in that fair city. Will take the camera in case I see something unusual or interesting - ya never know!
Have a great day. Hugs and all that other good stuff!
June 27 Nothing Much Happening Here!I didn't realize it had been so long since I've blogged until Toodie left a comment in my guestbook a few days ago. I also had to make my site private for several days to clean up the porn graphics and comments left by some low life scum bag!
Scott called a couple of days ago. They're thoroughly enjoying Ireland and with the exception of Patrick, they've all kissed the Blarney Stone! No pictures yet! We really miss Matt and Amber and I'm sure they'll have some exciting times to talk about when they return. They'll be headed home July 4th!
The first year we were here, I took the kids swimming at the lake. It has a nice beach area but I learned very quick ya had to go early in the morning to miss the riff-raff - if ya know what I mean! In the meantime, I found out the country club here had a swimming pool. I called and asked if it was a big pool and was told yes - so I joined the CC! Well, it was no bigger than a backyard swimming pool and very shallow - no room for a real swim! Well, one day on one of my little treks thru this area, I noticed the next town over had a swimming pool so I checked it out. I was totally amazed. This little town of less than 1,800 had a super nice pool, roller rink, tennis and basketball courts, baseball field, etc. That's how ya keep'em down on the farm! It was worth the 11 mile drive! It's easy to get'em to do their chores now. That swimming pool is my carrot!
And our newest angel - Hayden at 4 months.
A few weeks ago I bought 3 gardenia bushes. This was one of my first gardenias.
I've blogged about this before but I'll tell it again. It's a comforting memory. When my parents divorced my mother, brother and I moved in with my grandparents. My grandmother had a flower garden that ran the entire length of her house, on the side of the bedrooms....roses and gardenias. In the spring and summer (before a/c), we slept with the windows opened and our heads at the foot of the bed so as to take advantage of any cool air that might happen by! In the mornings we awoke to a gentle breeze coming through the window, followed by the lucious scent of gardenias. I can smell'em now!
I won't mention the weather except to say I have to water my plants morning and late afternoon just to keep'em alive! I dread to see the electric and water bills.
Enjoy your weekend - stay cool and hydrated!
May 22 Happy Birthday, MichelleHappy Birthday, Michelle! I hope you have a wonderful day. I'm proud of the young woman you've become and the mother you are. Much love and many hugs! Mom Girly Comments & Graphics May 21 What Was I Thinking? There's a brick retaining wall around our house and last year we noticed it was leaning outward. PJ takes it upon himself to straighten same. He did a great job - took him from March until mid July but he got'er done. He had to dig a trench on each side of the wall and when he was through, he backfilled with dirt. Over the past year the dirt has settled and you can't see the varigated monkey grass I've planted on the inside of the wall. So I asked him, nicely, if he would bring in a load of dirt and fill in the low spots for me. He said he'd get the dirt if I'd spread it! Hmmmm - that's not what I said but I agreed! He got the dirt almost immediately and I told him not to bug me about getting it spread - I'd do it when he went on his annual male bonding trip with his bro! This was around the first of May and that dirt pile was hinted at several times. My sister, Cathy, offered to help me when she was here Mother's Day weekend but I couldn't let her do the work. So, PJ left this morning on this trip and I went out this afternoon with my trusty shovel!
OMG - WTH was I thinking when I agreed to do this? I will definitely pay tomorrow! I didn't even make a dent in that dirt pile! I'm hurting in places I didn't know I could hurt!
I feel so sorry for Sammie Girl. She lays in the driveway all day, longing for her master's return. I have to entice her in for the night with the offer of a treat!
Picture's a little blurry - couldn't hold the camera still because of my poor aching body! I'm off to take a couple of aspirin and watch a little tv!
See ya tomorrow. Have a good evening!
